The Mindset Spot Episode 9

5 Things We Should Say to Ourselves More Often

1. “I will eat as I love myself. Move as I love myself. Speak as I love myself. Live as I love myself. Today!”

2. “Yes, I will be too busy working on my grass to notice if yours is greener.”

3. “No, I cannot control everything that happens to me; I can only control the way I respond to what happens. In my response is my power.”

4. “I will not get caught up in what could’ve been or should’ve been. I will look instead at the power and possibility of what is, right now.”

5. “I will think less about managing my problems and more about managing my mindset.”

A mind well-trained with thoughts like these is one step ahead of the inevitable negativity life challenges us with. And we all need practice, lots and lots of practice. Because just like every muscle in the body, the mind needs to be exercised to gain strength. It needs to be worked consistently to grow and develop over time. If you haven’t pushed your mind in thousands of little ways over time, of course it’ll crumble on the one day that things get really challenging.

The bottom line is, despite the real-world challenges you face, the biggest and most complex obstacle you will have to overcome personally is your own mind. In other words, you aren’t responsible for everything that happens to you, but you ARE responsible for undoing the self-defeating thinking and behavioral patterns that these undesirable experiences create.
